A teacher in Adama State has allegedly raped and infected some students of Tappare-Ganye Community Islamic Centre with HIV/AIDS.
The suspect, Mr Alhassan Adamu, who teaches in the same school, has been arrested by the police.
Confirming the arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Othman Abubakar, said that the suspect was helping the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in its investigation.
He said: “As soon as investigations are concluded, if the suspect is found wanting, he will be charged to court.” Abubakar, therefore, warned female students to be wary of randy teachers who would lure them on pretext of “mark grading”. Already, there is fear that no fewer than 13 students might have been infected by the randy teacher though Abubakar said the police were yet to establish that.

He added: “We also heard that, but whoever has a case should please come forward. For now, only one case we are dealing with.”
The suspect was said to have started sexual assault of his victims about eight years ago, but it came to the open when one of his victims, scheduled to get married on March 13, started manifesting illness that was later discovered to be HIV/AIDS.
The would-be husband had demanded health screening, before the wedding. This led to the discovery of the randy teacher’s dirty game.
