The Senior Staff Association of University, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI), is poised to commence another strike by 31st October, 2014 if all their demands are not met, as its national executive body has directed its members to do so on that day.
The Union made the declaration in a release signed by its Acting President Dr. B.A Akintola and the General Secretary Comrade M.O. Akinade, and made available to the newsmen over the weekend in Ibadan.
According to the release, “NEC observes that following the 15 days ultimatum by the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) to embark on an indefinite strike as from Wednesday 8th of October, 2014, the government met with JOHESU to further discuss the lingering issues in dispute since the agreement was signed on 10th May, 2012 and the National Industrial Court Judgment of 22nd of July, 2013.
“In line with the plea of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim and as a mark of respect for his exalted office, JOHESU agreed to shift the ultimatum by another 15 days.
“NEC of SSAUTHIAI has therefore upheld the stand of JOHESU to proceed on an indefinite strike action if all our demands are not met by 31st of October, 2014″.
