The Federal Government has said skipping on the consolidated medical salary structure (CONMESS) by resident doctors, a major reason for the lingering health crisis was not captured in the 2015 personnel budget of any tertiary health institution and as such, could not be paid.

 

Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Professor Temitope Alonge spoke on the development at a press conference in Ibadan, on Monday.

 

 

Alonge said that the position of the Federal Government was made known in a circular reference number BD/2000/EXP/S.88/T1/25 on July 23, 2015, released from the office of the acting Director-General of budget office which indicated the non capture of skipping in the 2015 personnel budget of all federal tertiary health institutions.

 

According to him, “The permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, reiterated in his address to the press in Lagos on Thursday, August 6, 2015, that payment for skipping was not captured in the 2015 personnel budget of any tertiary health institution in keeping with the position of the management of the University College Hospital, Ibadan,” he said.
