Kidney transplants and surgeries for kidney ailments are soon to commence in Sokoto.
This followed the establishment of the Centre for Nephrology and Urology after a collaboration between the Usman Danfodiyo University and its Teaching Hospital.
Speaking at the 28th Annual Scientific Conference of the Nigerian Association of Nephrology, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Zuru, said the centre would be commissioned during the combined and 40th anniversary of the university slated for March 19, 2016. The vice chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof. Atiku Yahya, said the university and the teaching hospital were exploring opportunities for more meaningful cooperation from places of best practices in the world.
