TOTAL Upstream companies in Nigeria has donated sets of high technology screening machines to the General Hospital Omoku, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government of Rivers State. 

The gesture, according to the Managing Director of the company, Elisabeth Proust was aimed at bringing advanced HIV/AIDS screening to the grass roots in the state. 

While noting that similar gesture was extended to Edo and Abia States, bringing the number of the benefited states to 18, she affirmed that the move would help reduce and prevent the deadly disease in the country. 

 

Speaking during the official lunch of the expanded community HN/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria preventive education project in Rivers State, The Managing Director, disclosed that, Total group would monitor the use of the screening machines it has donated in the various states to ensure sustainability and durability of the project. 

"Our desire is to ensure that our collective efforts succeed in the long term for the over-all benefit of the people" The Managing Director stated. 

 

"We are supporting government efforts in addressing' HN challenges in Nigeria in tandem with the National Strategic Framework (NSF), 2005-2009. It is very clear that neither the government nor any individual organisation can do it alone" She however called on other organisatiorrs to join hands in the fight, stressing that more are achieved by team work.
