A Consultant in Surgical Oncology of Appolo Hospital, Bangalore, India, Dr, Anil Kamath, has said cancer diagnosis and treatment has undergone remarkable changes in recent times 
 
In a recent chat with Daily Sun, he saild continuous research and the latest technological advancement in managing the ailment hadgiven patients and their relatives a relief.
 
 He explained that advanced research in surgical oncology had helped to preserve the organs and their functions,  adding that in the earling days cancer surgery would be as raducal and painful as possible, which usually led to removal of the entire affected organs.
 
 
 "Nowadays, be it breast,, rectum or any other organ, the attempt is to preserve the organ for rediation therapy, there are presently new medthods of diation therapy, there are presently new methods if deli vering radiation as precisely to the affected portion as possible.
 
 "For example, the True Beam (STx), which is availabke at Apollo Hosptial is a highly sophisticated equipment. It helps inhigher accuracy in treating the tumours, faster treatment by reducing the time and duration and more comfort to the patient due to lesser side effects. Amazingly, it has always produced better clinical results compated to what was obtainable in the past," he said
