STRIKE: UGONSA IS NOT PART OF JOHESU AND IS NOT ON STRIKE

The University Graduates of Nursing Science Association (UGONSA), the Professional Association of Nurses with minimum qualification of first degree in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing/B.N.Sc) wish to formally inform you that it is not part of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) and therefore is not on strike.

2.      We have directed our members to remain and maintain services at their duty posts and hereby request that you liaise appropriately with the Heads of Government-owned Health institutions, agencies or parastatals to provide adequate securities for our members in their respective work environments.

3.      This request is necessitated by the fact that lack of security cover for our working members made them victims of preventable violence in the hands of rampaging JOHESU’s members during their misguided strike that lasted three months between November 2014 and February 2015 notwithstanding that we duly inform the leadership of the Ministry of Health then that we were not on strike (Please refer to the attached document).

4.      We hope that such ugly incidence would not repeat again.

5.      We also wish to seize this opportunity to remind you that we still await the implementation of INTERNSHIP AND PROPER PLACEMENT for fresh Graduate Nurses as prayed in our previous letters to your esteemed Office.
