University of Uyo Admission into the 2013/2014 Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom Stateinvites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the 2013/2014 Postgraduate Programmes of the School of Continuing Education, University of Uyo, Uyo.
 Centre for Wetlands and Waste Management Studies

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Health Management (PGDEHM)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Wetlands Environmental Management and Conservation (PGDWEMC)

Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Programmes
To qualify for admission into Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes, a candidate must be a graduate of the University of Uyo, or any other University recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo, or a person who holds a qualification adjudged by the Senate of the University of Uyo to be equivalent to a First Degree and must hold at least a third class degree. Holders of a recognized Higher National Diploma with Lower Credit in the relevant disciplines could also apply. Masters’ Degree Programmes
To qualify for admission into a Master’s Degree Programme, applicants must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree (not lower than a Second Class Lower Division) in any relevant discipline with (i) CGPA of 2.75 on a Five-Point Scale (ii) CGPA of 2.2 points on a Four-Point Scale or a Postgraduate Diploma in their relevant fields of studies.
All applicants must satisfy the basic UTME requirements for Bachelor’s Degree. Applicants should check the University website for detailed clarifications of all the Masters’ Degree programmes www.uniuyo.edu.ng .
Duration

  • For Postgraduate Diploma, three (3) Semesters with three (3) months Industrial Attachment where necessary.
  • For Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) three (3) Semesters of intensive course work and Long Essay.’
  • For Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Executive) four (4) Semesters of intensive course work and a research project.

Eligibility

  • Applicants are expected to meet the departmental requirements.
  • Application forms without transcripts shall not be considered.
  • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate shall be required as well except in special circumstances.
  • Applicants for Masters’ programmes shall be subjected to screening test as part of the admission process.

General Information

  • All Candidates should possess (SSC/WASC/NECO/GCE) or its equivalent with credit passes in five subjects at not more than two sittings, including English Language and other Departmental and Faculty requirements.
  • Please note that all candidates with O’L examination results up to 2010, must present their certificates and not statement of result or result slips.
  • All completed forms should be accompanied with the following:
    • One (1) Passport size photograph
    • Photocopies of credentials
    • Original copy of receipts of payment for the application form.

Venue: School of Continuing Education Block (SCE Block), Town Campus, UNIUYO.
Time: 8.00am.

Requirement:
Evidence of application for admission into Master’s Programmes (Receipt of payment for Application form), writing materials and passport photographs should also be brought.

Method of Application
Application forms are obtainable from UNIUYO Microfinance Bank, Town Campus, Key Stone Bank (former Bank PHB) UNIUYO Branch on the payment of a non-refundable application fee of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) only. The receipt of payment must be obtained at the point of payment in the bank.

Application forms can also be obtained from the UNIUYO Liaison Offices in Lagos at No. 2 Modupe Street, Off Kofoworola Crescent, Off Awolowo Way, Ikeja (GSM No. 08145223041, 08036040440) and Abuja at No. 15B Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja (GSM No. 08188967822, 08067979235). Bank draft should be made payable to the School of Continuing Education, University of Uyo, the School of Continuing Education, University Uyo. The full name and address of the candidate must be written on the reverse side of the bank draft.

Applicants should request that their relevant academic transcripts and letters of reference be forwarded to: The Administrative Secretary, School of Continuing
Education, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Admissions will not be offered without these documents.

Closing Date
All completed application forms with photocopies of relevant credentials and Original copy of receipt of payment for the application form should reach the Office of the Administrative Secretary, School of Continuing Education, University of Uyo not later than 6th January, 2013.
