Sixty-nine medical students of the College of Medicine at the Enugu Campus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka were yesterday inducted as medical doctors.
Performing the ceremony in Enugu, the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Uche Nwagha, said the graduates passed through `acid test’ before overcoming the challenges.
He extolled the management for providing an enabling environment for them to attain their academic goals. The dean urged all tiers of government, parents and corporate bodies to support the college financially to enable it upgrade deteriorating facilities in the college.
The Vice Chancellor of the University who was represented by his deputy, Dr Edith Nwosu, congratulated the new medical doctors for their perseverance and urged them never to put the college to shame.
She described the UNN College of Medicine as the `best in Africa’ and encouraged the graduates never to forget the college that nurtured them.
In a remark, the Chairman, Enugu State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr George Ugwu, appealed to health institutions to accept the doctors for their one year housemanship. (NAN)
