The Global Director, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Dr. Laura Romanzhi alongside other members of USAID has inspected the State Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), centre in Birnin Kebbi to see facilities used for operating women suffering from VVF, with a view to supporting the centre to operate efficiently.
After inspecting the center , Romanzhi expressed satisfaction with what they saw on ground and reiterated the organisation’s readiness in partnering with the centre in order to assist in it in offering services to women suffering from VVF.
The facility manager who is a Fistula Surgeon, Dr Abubakar Bawa Dakingari explained to the visiting USAID team the efforts of the state government and the personnel of the centre in bringing succour to the lives of VVF patients especially in carrying out surgical operations to their clients.
Dakingari explained to the team also about the center’s rehabilitation programme after operation, saying, “After successful operation on our client and subsequent dry off , the clients are engaged in skill acquisition programmes so as to become productive members of the society.” He stressed the need and importance of collaborative efforts to help VVF clients.
