Job title:                           Medical Laboratory Scientist

LTA Assignment Title:    State Clinical Trainer (SCT) x3

Location:                            Kebbi, Lagos and Ondo

Reporting to:                    State Team Leader (STL)

Duration of contract:    6 Months (Starting October, extension possible)

Probationary period:     1 Month

Overall responsibility and objective of assignment

The SENDFUN project will be implemented over a six-month period and is aimed at building capacity of 600 (100/State) providers in the public sector to provide longacting reversible contraception (LARCs) so that women in these state have easy access to options of high quality family planning services

Working with and reporting to the STL for UNFPA funded SENDFUN activities, the state Clinical Trainer (SCT) will be responsible for conducting mapping, facility audit, selection, trainings, undertaking mentoring, coaching and supportive supervision of trainees, distribution of equipment and FP commodities, ensuring adherence to MSI quality standards in assigned state under the guidance and supervision of the State Team Leader.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Facility Identification, Recruitment. Provider Training and Mentoring

 

Implement clinical training policies, procedures, guidelines and manuals in accordance to government standards and project

Implementation guidelines.

Participate in planning, oversee training prepares both physical and financial report following completion of the training e.t.c.

Support preparation of monthly state plan of operation based on the SENDFUN operation plan

Supply Referral Systems and Networking

Distribution of supplies, commodities and manage training supplies, in line with the medical supply distribution guideline.

Facilitate liaision of facilities with other institutions(CBOs, NGOs, INGOs, and Government) for demand generation, training practicum linking and learning.

Monitoring Supportive and Reporting

Support facilities in clinical documentation, record keeping and ensures timely submission of reports.

Support perparation and submission of monthly and quarterly facility performance report on quality assessment activities of SENDFUN operation in assigned state.

External Relations and liaison

Support development and maintenance of excellent relationships with government (SMoH), partners and of the public institutions in the state.

Liaise with service delivery (Outreach, Clinic), sales and social franchise teams and other partners to ensure projects are integrated at all levels

Expected Outputs and Deliverables

The deliverables to be submitted by each State Team will include amongst others:

Facility audits and assessment reports

Monthly activity and training report include financials

Analytical reports of cascade training

Internal Quality Audit and Quality improvement reports.

Interim and final reports of entire training upon certification of state trainers and providers

Post training supportive supervision tools and Action plans

Working with the STL, will be expected to provide mentoring, supportive supervision to assigned trained providers in their facilities at least 3 times within the life of the project.

Qualifications, Capabilities/ Skills, Experience and Expertise required for SCT and STL Positions

Qualified and certified Nurses/Midwives or Doctors

Technical Expertise in long acting reversible contraception (LARCs) specifically IUD and implants insertion and removal

Certified clinical skills trainer with significant experience of providing competency based traing and certification for providers in modern methods family planning

Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages

Experience of providing training for national, INGOs and donors in Nigeria e.g. DfiD, USAID, EU, or Gates funded projects

Willingness to frequently travel to project implement sites

Familiarly with the different cultural, social and religious identities in project state

Excellent team building, interpersonal, communication, strong negotiation, planning and organizational skills

Strong personal commitment to the mission and goals of MSI
