UMUDIKE-NEWLY graduated Doctors 'Of Veterinary Medicine, DVM, of the Michael Okpara University 'Of Agriculture, Umudike, MOUAU, Abia state, have been asked to adhere strictly to the ethics 'Of their profession in 'Order to make positive impact in the practice of their profession.
Speaking while declaring 'Open the second 'Oath-taking ceremony 'Of the fifth set 'Of graduates 'Of Veterinary Medicine of the university, the Vice-Chancellor; Prof Hilary Edeaga, enjoined them to use the scientific knawledge garnered during their training far the benefit 'Of the society.
Edeaga urged the veterinary doctors to prevent animal disease, relieve animals suffering from diseases as well as promote public health and advance veterinary knawledge.
The Vice Chancellarwha extolled the Veterinary Council 'Of Nigeria, VCN, far followinqthe training programmes 'Of the College 'Of Veterinary 'Of the university meticulausly, added that their routine academic exercises had led to the university turning aut quality graduates.
He further said that the university management attached great importance to the training af'kterinary Doctors and would not relent in supparting programmes and activities geared towards the enhancement 'Of research, teaching and learning. Earlier in his speech, the Dean 'Of the College 'Of Veterinary Medicine, Prof Ukaira Kalu, cangratulated the 19 graduates who were admitted as veterinary surgeans and commended the VCN far its unquantifiable support which had enabled the college to excel.
Earlier in his remarks, the President 'Of the VCN, ProfGarba Sharubutuhad commended the university management far ensuring that academic excellence, community service and incisive research thrived in the institution.
Sharubutu then told the new graduates that a lot were expected 'Of them and advised them to live above board in the exercise 'Of their duties.
The hiqhpoint 'Of the event was the administratian 'Of the veterinary 'Oath an the graduates by the Registrar 'Of the Veterinary Council 'Of Nigeria, Dr Markus Avang.
