Evidently disturbed by the prevalence and pervasiveness of the operations of quacks in the health sector, Nurse Jude Chiedu of Nursingworld Nigeria has decided to bring the issue of quackery to the front burner and stage a peaceful march in protest on his "wedding day".
The protest, coming on the heels of the visit of the ICN President Judith Shamian to Nigeria and the NANNM State Administration Council (SAC) Induction Course in Abuja is aimed at sensitizing the public on the prevalence of individuals parading themselves as nurses and bringing disrepute to the profession.
According to jude chiedu, the operation of these quacks in nursing profession is one key reason the nation’s health care is tottering on the borders of incredibility and total lack of confidence. This in turn, is fuelling the rising trend of unemployment, Negative stereotyping and consequent poor remuneration amongst Nigerian nurses.
On his plan for the protest march, he said: I would be getting married to Nurse Florence Anozie tomorrow on 12/12/2015 in portharcourt rivers state and she has agreed to walk by my side and hold the other end of my protest banner which reads "ITS YOUR RIGHT TO KNOW, ALWAYS ASK: ARE YOU A REGISTERED NURSE? LIFE HAS NO DUPLICATE!! #SAYNOTOQUACKS.

Hear him: Florence and I have agreed to march in protest in our wedding suit and gown respectively. A few male colleagues who also share my pain against quackery have also agreed to walk with me in solidarity, they also plan to come in "white senator attire with green caps and muffler to make it uniform and eye catching". Again My two elder sisters who are also nurses have sworn to be by my side in solidarity too. This is my own little way at an attempt to urge the government to move against quacks. We owe posterity a duty to free the nation’s health sector from the nefarious and inimical activities of these quacks. Silence is not an option.
On his plan for his honeymoon immediately after his wedding, he said: I have my flight booked the day after the wedding for abuja where i intend to make my voice heard on the issue of quackery at the 2015 NANNM SAC Induction Course holding at the Nicon Luxury on the 13th of December 2015 were the ICN President judith shamian would be present. From there i would move my protest to the Nursing leadership summit holding on the 16th at the NAF Conference hall Abuja, were i would also pay tribute to the memory of Late justina ejelonu and present the Nursingworld Nigeria N50,000 Scholarship to a lucky Student Nurse. I humbly urge fellow colleagues to join me in protest and take a stand against quackery in the profession.
