Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) in Keffi, Nasarawa State has said its three-month-old strike continues because of government’s refusal to comply with the directive on skipping which should benefit patients.
The industrial action has been on since March 6, 2015 at the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
The doctors, in a communiqué from its public relations officer, Dr. Isah Ohyoma, after its meetings on June 18 and June 25, 2015 said the management’s refusal to carry out the directive on skipping was prolonging the strike even as they called for the federal government’s intervention to end it.
ARD said other members of staff in the hospital had been benefitting from the skipping exercise in the medical centre for over four years.

It noted that the health conditions of some patients in the hospital, who are supposed to benefit from the ‘skipping,’ have worsened.
It said various attempts by ARD and its national bodies (NMA and NARD) had been met by stiff resistance from the management of the medical centre.
It faulted the committee of chief medical directors/medical directors and some key staff members of the Federal Ministry of Information for the action noting that it will not call off the strike until there is a clear intervention from the National Assembly and the federal government for the management to comply with federal government’s directive on skipping.
