Why we Deserve Our Salaries — Medical Guild

Posted on: Mon 03-11-2014

Medical doctors in the employ of Lagos State government, yesterday, asked for payment of their their salaries, arguing that other workers who embarked on strike for a much longer period were paid theirs.

They wondered why the government would choose to be selective in its dealings with workers in the state.

The doctors also posited that the strike was called by the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, which comprised the Medical Guild.

Chairman of the Guild, Dr. Biyi Kufor, lamented that all the 36 states of the country had paid their doctors, except Lagos State government.

Kufor, who regretted that Lagos State was applying what he described as ‘selective justice’ said “all doctors who participated in the nationwide strike have been paid except doctors in Lagos.”
