Haemophilia(Royal Disease) is a group of inherited blood disorders in which the blood does not clot properly. Bleeding disorders are due to defects in the blood vessels, the coagulation mechanism, or the blood platelets. An affected individual may bleed spontaneously or for longer than a healthy person after injury or surgery. General symptoms are internal or external bleeding episodes, which are called "bleeds".

Hemophilia is quite rare and about 1 in 10,000 people are born with it but around 0.42 million people live with and The global market for hemophilia drugs, totaled $8.5 billion in 2011 and will grow to $11.4 billion by 2016. There are certain new treatments could help drive down the price of existing hemophilia products, which can total $300,000 or more a year for a single patient. Currently about 20,000 people have hemophilia in the US; about 80% of them have hemophilia A, and 3,000 to 4,000 have hemophilia B. About 400 US babies with hemophilia are born each year. The bleeding disorder market is expected to be able to support some new products, and it’s expected to grow almost 6% yearly—about $500 million—over the next five to ten years.
