Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Full-Time/Part-Time Postgraduate Programmes in the Department of Nursing Science and Physiology of Ekiti State University, (EKSU) Ado-Ekiti for the 2026/2027 Academic Session in the following areas:

i) Community Health Nursing

ii) Maternal and Child Health Nursing

iii) Medical Surgical Nursing

iv) Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing

v) Nursing Administration and Management

vi) Nursing Education

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Science Education (PGDNSE)

To be eligible for admission into the PGDNSE Programme, all candidates must possess:

i. Five credits pass in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Mathematics at the O/level in not more than two sittings.

ii. A BN.Sc/B.Sc. in Nursing Science from Ekiti State University or any other government approved Universities with a minimum of Third Class or its equivalent OR HND in Nursing Science from government recognised institution, with a minimum of Credit Pass in Nursing Science.

iii. A valid and current Practice License of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

iv. NYSC discharged/Exemption/Exclusion certificate

 

Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Nursing Science

To be eligible for admission into the M. Sc. Programme, all candidates must possess:

i. Five credits pass in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Mathematics at the O/level in not more than two sittings.

ii. A BN.Sc/B.Sc. in Nursing Science from Ekiti State University or any other government approved universities with a minimum of pass (equivalent to Second-Class Lower Division).

iii. A valid and current Practice License of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

iv. A candidate with Credit pass at HND in Nursing Science from government recognized institution must possess in addition, a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Science (PGDNSE), with a minimum of Credit Pass from Ekiti State University or any other government approved universities in relevant specialty before he/she can be considered for admission into the M.Sc. programme.

v. NYSC discharged/exemption/Exclusion certificate

 

Master of Philosophy Conversion to Ph.D (M.Phil./Ph.D) in Nursing Science

To be eligible for admission into the M.Phil./Ph.D Programme, all candidates must possess:

i. Five credits pass in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Mathematics at the O/level in not more than two sittings.

ii. A BN.Sc/B.Sc. Nursing Science degree from Ekiti State University or any other government recognized universities, with a minimum of pass (equivalent to Second-Class Lower Division).

iii. M.Sc. degree in Nursing Science with a minimum of weighted average of 55.0 to 59.9 or CGPA of 3.25 to 3.49 on a scale of 5.00.

iv. A valid and current practice license of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

 

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Nursing Science

To be eligible for admission into the Ph.D Programme, all candidates must possess:

i. Five credits pass in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Mathematics at the O/level in not more than two sittings.

ii. A BN.Sc/B.Sc. Nursing Science degree from Ekiti State University or any other recognized universities, with a minimum of pass (equivalent to Second-Class Lower Division).

iii. M.Sc. degree in Nursing Science with a minimum of weighted average of 60.0 or minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a scale of 5.00 grading point.

iv. Applicants with M.Phil. degree in Nursing Science from Ekiti State University or any other recognised Universities with a minimum Weighted Average of 60.0 or CGPA of not less than 4.00 on a 5.00 point scale grading in the course work may be considered for admission.

v. A valid and current practice license of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

vi. NYSC discharged/exemption/Exclusion certificate

 

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMMES

Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Science Education (PGDNSE)

i. Full-time: A minimum of 2 semesters and a maximum of 4 semesters.

ii. Part-time: A minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters.

 

Masters of Science Degree Programme in Nursing (M.Sc.)

i. Full-time: A minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters.

ii. Part-time: A minimum of 6 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters.

iii. Full-Time students who are considered to have fulfilled all conditions precedent to oral examinations shall be allowed to presented their oral examination during the fourth semester, while their Part Time counterparts shall be allowed to presented their oral examination during the sixth semester.

 

Master of Philosophy Conversion to Ph.D Degree Programme (M.Phil./Ph.D)

i. Full-time: A minimum of 8 semesters and a maximum of 12 semesters.

ii. Part-time: A minimum of 10 semesters and a maximum of 14 semesters.

iii. Full-Time students who are considered to have fulfilled all conditions precedent to M.Phil/Ph.D Conversion Examinations shall be allowed to presented their Conversion Oral Examination during the third semester, while their Part Time counterparts shall be allowed to presented their Conversion oral examination during the fifth semester.

 

Doctoral Degree Programme (Ph.D)

i. Full-time: A minimum of 6 semesters and a maximum of 12 semesters.

ii. Part-time: A minimum of 8 semesters and a maximum of 14 semesters.

 

For extension beyond the specified maximum period of all postgraduate programmes, approval must be obtained from the Board of College of Postgraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Department/Faculty.

 

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Application fee: N25,000.00 (Twenty-Five Thousand Naira Only).

 

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Interested applicants are to:

(a) Generate Remita Invoice (RRR)

(b) Pay through on-line options such as: ATM, PAGA etc.

(c) Use the Remita to download the application form

(d) Candidates are required to log on to apply.eksu.edu.ng

(e) Attach photocopies of credentials to the duly completed application form and submit at the General Office of the College of Postgraduate Studies, EKSU.

 

Note: EKSU graduates and non-graduates should ensure that the official Transcript of Academic Records from their respective institutions is directed and forwarded to the address below (indicating the target Department) latest six (6) weeks from the date of submission of Application for Admission Form:
