If you've been thinking about getting certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), now is the perfect time to act. The American Heart Association (AHA) is rolling out major changes to how BLS training is delivered — and these changes will affect both how much you pay and how you train.
What’s Changing?
Starting 22 October 2025, AHA will begin transitioning from the traditional classroom format to a blended format called HeartCode BLS. By 1 March 2026, this new format will become the only way to get certified.
What is HeartCode BLS?
HeartCode BLS is a blended learning format that includes:
- An online portion of the BLS course plus access to the BLS Provider Manual eBook. (for these two, you pay directly to AHA in USD via elearning.heart.org),
- Followed by a hands-on practical session with an AHA-certified training center (for this, you pay again directly to a Nigerian AHA training center in Naira),
- After which you’ll receive your BLS Provider eCard (valid for 2 years).
This means you’ll be paying twice — once to AHA for the online portion and eManual, and again to us, for the practical session.
Why You Should Act Now
Right now, you can still take the physical BLS class at a much lower cost — with one-time payment. But this option is only available until 28 February 2026.
After that, the blended format becomes mandatory, and the cost will increase due to:
- USD payments to AHA for the online module plus eManual,
- Separate fees for the in-person practical session.
Benefits of Taking BLS Now
- Save money by avoiding dual payments.
- Get certified faster with a single, streamlined session.
- Avoid currency exchange hassles and international payment issues.
- Stay ahead of the transition and be fully certified before the rush.
