PREAMBLE

The Gaya Polytechnic was established in 2025 by His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the second Polytechnic in Kano being a forward-looking institution committed to excellence in technical and vocational education, conceived to offer innovative and industry-driven programmes. The Polytechnic is dedicated to producing graduates equipped with employable skills that align with current global trends and emerging technological demands. As we work to build a dynamic learning environment anchored in creativity, competence and modern best practices, we seek passionate professionals eager to contribute to our mission of shaping a skilled and globally competitive workforce.

In this vein, applications are invited from suitably qualified Candidates to fill the following academic and non-academic positions in the Gaya Polytechnic. However, those in the Kano State Civil Service need NOT apply.

This advertisement cancels and supersededs the earlier circular No.1/2026 with reference HCS/MIS/S/359/V.I/5 dated 26th January, 2026 issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service seeking deployment of Staff to the newly established Polytechnic.

POSTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Senior Lecturer – CONPCASS 07

Candidates must possess a relevant Master’s Degree with at least twelve years teaching/research or industrial work experience. Such a Candidate must have published a total of three conference/seminar papers, three journal articles accepted for publication, or contribution of two chapters in a standard text book(s) or a Doctorate Degree in a relevant discipline with at least nine years teaching/research or industrial work experience plus three journals and four conference/seminar papers. Membership of a professional relevant body is mandatory.

Lecturer I – CONPCASS 06

Candidates must possess a relevant Master’s Degree plus at least six years teaching/research or industrial work experience and two journals accepted for publication plus two conference/seminar papers or a Doctorate Degree in a relevant discipline plus three years teaching/research or industrial work experience plus two journal publications and five conference/seminar papers. Membership of a professional relevant body is mandatory.

Lecturer II – CONPCASS 05

Candidates must possess a Master’s in relevant discipline plus at least three years teaching/research industrial work experience and one journal article accepted for publication and two conference/seminar papers with at least six years teaching/research or industrial experience. Membership of a professional relevant body is mandatory.

Lecturer III – CONPCASS 03

Candidates must possess a Good Master’s Degree in relevant discipline plus at least two conferences/seminar papers and one journal article accepted for publication with at least three years teaching/research or industrial work experience.

For the posts of

1. Admin. Officer II CONTEDISS 08 – Candidate must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) preferably in the arts, social science or humanities plus NYSC discharged/exemption certificate or exclusion letter.
2. Admin. Officer I CONTEDISS 09 – Candidates must in addition to the above have at least three years post qualification relevant experience or possess a Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline.
3. Assistant Registrar CONTEDISS 11 - in addition to 1 above Candidate must have at least six years cognate experience or Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline plus at least four years post qualification cognate experience.
4. Deputy Registrar CONTEDISS 14 – in addition to 1 above Candidate must have at least sixteen years cognate experience or Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline plus at least thirteen years post qualification cognate experience or a relevant doctorate degree with at least twelve years post qualification cognate experience.
5. Confidential Secretary I CONTEDISS 08 – Candidate must possess a Higher National Diploma at credit level in office technology and management or its equivalent plus NYSC discharged/exemption certificate.
6. Senior Confidential Secretary CONTEDISS 09 – In addition to 5 above Candidates must have at least three post qualification cognate experience.

9. Principal Data Processing Officer CONTEDISS 12 – In addition to 8 above, Candidate must have at least nine years post qualification cognate experience or Master’s Degree with at least six years post qualification cognate experience in relevant discipline.
10. Director ICT CONTEDISS 15 – Candidate must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) or Higher National Diploma in computer science with at least twenty-one years relevant experience or a Master’s Degree with eighteen years cognate experience or a PhD with fifteen years relevant experience. Membership of relevant professional body is mandatory.
11. Principal Accountant CONTEDISS 12 - Candidate must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in accountancy or finance plus membership of relevant professional body with at least nine years of post qualification cognate experience.
12. Chief Accountant/Internal Auditor CONTEDISS 14 – In addition to 11 above Candidates must have at least sixteen years post qualification cognate experience. Membership of relevant professional body is mandatory.
13. Higher Executive Officer (Acct/Audit) CONTEDISS 08 - Candidate must possess a Higher National Diploma in accountancy or finance at credit level obtained from a recognized institution plus NYSC discharged/exemption certificate.
14. Higher Store Officer CONTEDISS 08 - Candidate must possess a Higher National Diploma in business studies/purchasing & supply/marketing at credit level plus NYSC discharged/exemption certificate.
15. Chief Store Officer CONTEDISS 14 – In addition to the 14 above Candidate must have at least seventeen years post qualification cognate experience. Membership of relevant and recognized professional body is mandatory.
16. Higher Executive Officer (Admin.) CONTEDISS 08 - Candidate must possess a Higher National Diploma at credit level in relevant discipline plus NYSC discharged/exemption certificate.

Higher Library Officer CONTEDISS 08 – Candidate must possess a Higher National Diploma at credit level in library & information science/technology plus NYSC discharged/exemption certificate or a national diploma in library & information science/technology with at least six years post qualification cognate experience.
18. Principal Library Officer II CONTEDISS 11 – Candidate must possess a Higher National Diploma at credit level in library & information science/technology with at least six years post qualification cognate experience. Membership of relevant and recognized professional body is mandatory.
19. Senior Quantity Surveyor/Architect/Town Planner/Builder - CONTEDISS 11 - Candidates applying for the posts must possess any of the qualifications specified below:

• A good Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying/Architecture/Building Technology/Urban & Regional Planning or Town Planning from a recognized University (Minimum of Second Class Lower Division) plus at least six years post-qualification cognate experience, or a Master’s Degree in relevant field with at least three years.

For Quantity Surveyor:

1. A pass in the final examination of the Royal Institute Chartered Surveyors.

• A pass in the final examination of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.

For Architect:

• A pass in the final Examination of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
• A pass in the final Examination of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA).

For Town Planner:

• Evidence of registration with Town Planning Registration Council of Nigeria (TOPREC).
• A pass in the final Examination of the Nigeria Institute of Town Planners.

For Builder:

• A pass in the final Examination II examination with the Nigeria Institute of Builders (NIB).
• A pass in the final Part II Examination of Chartered Institute of Builders of England (CIBE).
   

Chief QS/Architect/Town Planner/Builder - CONTEDISS 14 - In addition to the 19 above Candidate must have at least seventeen years post qualification cognate experience or Master’s Degree plus with at least fourteen years cognate experience. Membership of relevant and recognized professional body is mandatory.

Director Physical Planning - CONTEDISS 15 – Candidates must be a fully registered professional in the relevant cadre with at least eighteen years post qualification cognate experience or a registered professional with Master’s Degree plus sixteen years post qualification cognate experience or a registered professional with doctorate degree plus fourteen years post qualification cognate experience. Membership of a professional body is mandatory.

Librarian II CONPCASS 02 – Candidate must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in library science (BLS) plus NYSC discharge/exemption certificate.

Chief Technical Officer CONTEDISS 14 – Candidate must possess a recognized Higher National Diploma at credit level in relevant discipline with at least seventeen years post qualification cognate experience. Membership of a recognized relevant professional body is mandatory.

Assistant Chief Engineer CONTEDISS 13 – Candidates applying for the post must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Upper Division) in engineering with at least twelve years post-qualification cognate experience or a good Master’s Degree with at least nine years of cognate working experience. Membership of relevant professional body is mandatory.

Statistician I CONTEDISS 09 – Candidates must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree/Higher National Diploma (minimum of Second Class Lower Division/Credit) in statistics with at least three years post-qualification cognate experience or a Master’s Degree in statistics from a recognized institution.

Coach CONTEDISS 08 – Candidates must possess any of the following qualifications

i. a good Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Physical and Health Education; ii. Nigeria Certificate in Education (Physical and Health Education) plus three years cognate experience; iii. National Institute for Sports Grade II Coaching Certificate with at least three years coaching experience.

Principal Coach CONTEDISS 12 – Candidates must possess any of the following:

i. Good Bachelor’s Degree in Physical and Health Education with at least nine years coaching experience; ii. Master’s degree in Physical and Health Education with at least six years of post-qualification cognate experience; iii. Nigeria Certificate in Education (Physical and Health Education) with at least nine years cognate experience. Professional Coaching Certificate is mandatory.

Chief Coach CONTEDISS 14 – Candidates must possess any of the following: - i. Good Bachelor’s Degree in Physical and Health Education with at least seventeen years coaching experience; ii. Master’s degree in Physical and Health Education with at least fourteen years of post-qualification cognate experience. Professional registration with relevant body and a Coaching Certificate is Mandatory.

Medical Officer I CONMESS 02 – Candidates must possess MBBS and registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria plus NYSC discharge/exemption certificate.

Chief Nurse CONHESS 14 – Candidates must possess the Nigerian Registered Nurse (NRN) Certificate with at least eighteen years cognate post qualification experience.

Senior Medical Lab. Scientists CONHESS 11 – Candidates must possess a good Bachelor's Degree (minimum of Second Class lower division) in Medical Laboratory Science, Registerable with Institute of Medical Laboratory Science with at least six years post qualification cognate experience or Master's Degree with at least three years or Doctorate Degree.

Principal Planning Officer CONTEDISS 12 – Candidates must possess a good Bachelor's Degree (B.Ed, BSc., B.A or equivalent in) Education Management, Educational Planning, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Humanities with at least nine years post qualification cognate experience. ICT proficiency is mandatory.

Director Academic Planning, Research & Innovation CONTEDISS 15 – Candidates must possess a good Bachelor's Degree (B.Ed, BSc., B.A or equivalent in) Education Management, Educational Planning, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Humanities or Master's Degree in relevant area with at least twenty years post qualification cognate experience. ICT proficiency is mandatory.

Chief Security Officer CONTEDISS 14 – Candidates must possess a good Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, Security Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration or any related field with at least fifteen years cognate security experience. Candidate must be a retired officer from one of the following: Nigeria Police Force; Nigerian Army; Nigerian Navy/Airforce; Nigerian Security & Civil Defense Cops or other recognized security agencies and must have retired not below CSP in Police, Major in Nigerian Army, or equivalent rank in other services.
