Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria Hearty Congratulations to Nigerians

We are deeply excited about the acceptance of Nigeria’s documentation by the African Regional Certificate Commission (ARCC) for the eradication of poliomyelitis.

It is heart-warming that at last, the World Health Organization declared Nigeria free of the Wild Polio Virus on Thursday, 18th June, 2020.

The President and Commander in-chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR deserves a big kudos. He said he must finish the polio job and he lived by his words.

Thanks you, Mr. President, for your deep interest in the Nigerian child and for the huge investment in the polio war which has yielded results, today.

History will certainly be kind to you and your team.

We wish to specially commend one of our own; the excellent leadership and commitment exhibited by the Executive Director/CEO of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib who has executing Mr. President’s charge with precision in the past four years.

It was not surprising to many of us at the APHPN, when Mr. President a little over 3 years ago appointed Dr. Faisal to led the successful eradication of Ebola Virus Disease within the shortest possible time in 2014. In the post-polio era, we are confident that the present management of the Agency will deploy the same incident management approach and resources to continue the improvement in Routine Immunization coverage and Primary Healthcare service delivery to all Nigerians.

We want to also use this medium to say a big congratulations to the development partners, sponsors and all the other stakeholders for their support to the Nigerian government.

To the entire Staff of the Federal Ministry of Health, National Primary Heath Care development Agency and all our colleagues at the State and Local Government levels, our frontline healthcare workers, you are truly the polio war General!

Signed:

Dr. B.S.C Uzochukwu

President
