The Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI) is a World Bank-supported project at the University of Benin aimed at building capacity within the West African region for implementing strategic policies and programs in reproductive health. One of CERHI’s specific objectives is to conduct training in the fields of public health, reproductive health, nursing and health economics, with the major outcome of ensuring that graduates are industry-ready to address the reproductive health and developmental challenges in the region.

To this end, the CERHI is calling for applications from suitable candidates to participate in a 10-day course leading to the award of an Advanced Diploma Certificate in Gender and its Implications for National Development. The course has been internationally accredited by the Agency for Public Health Education and Accreditation (APHEA), Belgium, with the potential for course participants to use the certificate in Europe and other parts of the world.

Date: August 5-16, 2024, beginning at 9.30 am each day

Course Content: The course outline will include the following:

• A 5-day lecture, discussion, work group sessions, and tutorials
• Three days of practical work and site visits
• One day to write a narrative report and commentary on on-site visits and practical work
• One day of assessment, reporting assessment results, and award of certificates. A special certificate of award and a prize will be given to the candidate adjudged to be the best participant.

Participants

Persons working on gender issues in the Ministries of Women Affairs, Health, Justice, and Education in African countries, as well as legislators, legislative aids, policymakers, NGOs, and post-graduate students.

Course fee: N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) for Nigerian participants $150 (One Hundred and Fifty Dollars) only for international participants The cost covers lunch and tea breaks, course materials, site visits and course certificates.
