ZOA is an international relief and recovery organization supporting vulnerable people affected by violent conflicts and natural disasters in fragile states, by helping them to realize dignified and resilient lives. ZOA operates in more than 15 countries, in difficult locations where our field staff directly provides assistance to the most vulnerable victims of displacement. The countries in which ZOA is present are Afghanistan, Burundi, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Liberia, Myanmar, Philippines, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Uganda and Yemen. ZOA is active in insecure and volatile regions: serving Syrian refugees in the Middle East, uprooted people in war-torn South Sudan, displaced Yezidis in Northern Iraq and South Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia, to name a few.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultant - Oversight of Health Program Implementation

Location: Maiduguri / Monguno, Borno

Employment Type: Contract

 

Job Summary

To provide technical guidance, quality assurance, and supervisory support for health-related interventions implemented by ZOA’s local implementing partner, ensuring alignment with national and international standards, best practices, and donor expectations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Public Health, Medicine, or a related field (e.g., Health Systems Management, Epidemiology).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in health program supervision, coordination, or implementation, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Proven experience working on health-related interventions in Borno State is a strong advantage.
  • Solid understanding of health sector standards, clinical protocols, and donor compliance requirements(e.g., WHO, Sphere).
  • Previous experience working with international or local NGOs, especially in conflict-affected or resource-limited settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely, with readiness for field visits and extended stays in operational areas such as Monguno.
  • Strong skills in communication, mentoring, and report writing in English.
  • Ability to conceptualise and communicate effectively in Hausa and Kanuri, supporting community engagement and local coordination.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks, data analysis, and health information systems is an added asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate across departments and with external stakeholders.
