Doctors Beware! Missing This One Step Could Cost You Your Housemanship Placement — MDCN Issues Urgent SOP Update!
The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has issued a critical update for all intending house officers, training institutions, and stakeholders regarding the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for housemanship placement under the centralized posting system.
If you're a provisionally registered doctor seeking housemanship, here’s what you MUST know to avoid delays or automatic cancellation:
Step-by-Step Guide to Secure Your Posting:
- Register on the Housemanship Portal using details from your Provisional Registration Certificate.
- Login to view available training institutions with current vacancies. If no options appear, it means no vacancies are available.
- Select your preferred institution from the list. Once successful, identical posting letters are sent to both you and the institution via email.
- Note the resumption deadline in your posting letter. Missing it means automatic cancellation.
- Canceled postings free up space for other applicants — so act fast!
- Institutions clear house officers monthly for allowance payments and administrative updates.
- All correspondence should be directed to:
- Administrative/technical: [email protected]
- Payment matters: [email protected]
Important Reminders:
- Postings are ONLY done via the portal — no physical visits to MDCN offices are allowed.
- Soliciting postings from MDCN staff is strictly prohibited.
- Institutions not yet on the portal must submit quarterly lists of recruited house officers.
- House officers from such institutions must upload their employment letters on the portal upon resumption.
This SOP ensures transparency, fairness, and efficiency in housemanship placements. Don’t risk your future — follow the rules and secure your spot!
