The Ekiti State Commissioner for Health, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, has  said 177 residents   have been tested for coronavirus    since the outbreak of the  pandemic. Yaya-Kolade said the state molecular laboratory was being set up  for  random testing to prevent  community transmission of COVID-19 in the state.

The commissioner, who spoke in Ado Ekiti during a briefing  on COVID-19 on Monday, urged residents to make themselves available for the test to learn their health  status.

She said,  “So far we have conducted COVID-19 tests on 177 persons with 19 confirmed cases. We have only five active cases at present. We informed you about our molecular laboratory last week and I can confirm to you now that the laboratory is  being set up now and the tests will commence any moment from now.

“We want to rule out any form of community transmission of COVID-19 and further spread. We believe that with the random tests, it will help us to contain the deadly disease. I want to urge our people to make themselves available for the tests.”
