Job Title: Eye Clinic Technician (Admin & Patient Support)

Role Overview
- To support their growing practice, they are seeking a qualified Eye Care Technician to join their team.
- The Ophthalmic Technician will play a dual role: supporting ophthalmologists in patient care and diagnostic procedures, administrative responsibilities to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Technical Duties:
- Gather patient medical and ophthalmic history, answer questions, and provide education on eye health and treatments.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment to perform vision and ocular tests (visual field tests, color vision tests, refractometry, etc.).
- Register new patients, schedule appointments, and verify insurance details.
- Assist ophthalmologists with minor office surgeries and other ophthalmic procedures.
- Update and maintain patient medical records
- Administer topical eye drops, ointments, and other prescribed medications.
- Manage reception area: greet patients, answer phone calls, and provide professional assistance
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic instruments and manage inventory of supplies.
- Accurately record test results and patient information in medical records or patient management software.
Requirements
- Minimum of OND qualification (Diploma/Certificate in a relevant field).
- Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician, Optometric Assistant, or related healthcare role is an advantage.
- Willingness to stand and walk for extended periods in a clinical environment.
Skills & Qualities:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with ophthalmic testing instruments and computer/patient management software.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, customer service, and ability to interact well with patients and staff.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate, precise, and organized in both clinical and administrative duties.
- Dexterity: Manual dexterity to handle delicate ophthalmic instruments.
- Professionalism: Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an eye care team.
