The National Primary Health Care Development Agency has deplored the high mortality rate of cervical cancer among women.
The Executive Director, Dr Faisal Shuaib, who spoke at an event to mark the 2020 World Cancer Day in Abuja, said the Federal government was working to make HPV vaccination available next year.
However, a global organisation, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), is to 400,000 Nigerian women for the ailment over the next 18 months. Its Director of Programmes and Sexual Reproductive, Maternal and Neonatal Health, Dr. Olufunke Fasawe, made the disclosure in her goodwill message to the event.
IN a related development, the Niger State Government is enrolling over 4,000 vulnerable citizens into its contributory health scheme.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mohammed Makun Sidi, dropped the information during the kick-off of the Basic Health Care Provisional Fund at Makunkele Primary Health Care Centre in Bosso council area of the state.
