Job Title: General Manager

Location: Akure, Ondo

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

  • The General Manager will be responsible for overall technical leadership, management and operations of the Hub.
  • S/he will ensure that the goals, objectives and strategies are achieved and contractual requirements are met on time and within budget.
  • S/he will take leadership role in the coordination of all activities across the different units of the Hub.
  • S/he will oversee staff and sub-partners to result-oriented planning, leadership and coordination of activities for improved access and sustainable delivery of high-quality laboratory services.
  • S/he will provide leadership and representation of the center in providing partnerships with both public and private clinics and hospitals, communities and any such partnering bodies.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide overall management, strategic direction, and leadership to the board to achieve expected project goals and results within budget and timeframe.
  • Provide overall programmatic and technical leadership in laboratory quality management systems; and in the design, development, planning and implementation of activities.
  • Oversee staff and help establish reporting and tracking systems to provide information in an efficient manner.
  • Share laboratory best practices and contribute to the knowledge base ensuring that quality standards are at best international practices.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with organizations, relevant government agencies and other partners
  • Ensure continuous review, analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of the internal processes and make recommendations for enhancements.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences; Master’s Degree in Science or Public Health (MPH) preferred;
  • Must hold a practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).

Experience, Skills, and Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in clinical laboratory medicine in developing countries with at least 5 years’ experience in a laboratory quality management role.
  • Knowledge and experience with strengthening laboratories to achieve international quality standards.
  • A demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with multiple partners, the government, its agencies and private organizations.
  • Ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
