We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Intensivist

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Department: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Reports To: Chief of Critical Care Medicine

Position Overview

  • The Intensivist is responsible for the comprehensive care of patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • This role requires specialized knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and treatment of critically ill patients.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care:

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill patients.
  • Perform procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and mechanical ventilation management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to formulate treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals including nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other physicians.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to team decisions.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior medical staff and residents.

Education and Research:

  • Engage in continuous learning and stay updated with advancements in critical care medicine.
  • Participate in research projects and contribute to scientific literature.
  • Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.

Quality Improvement:

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Adhere to and promote ICU protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Valid and active medical license.
  • Proven experience in an ICU setting.

Skills:

  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of critical care medicine.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-stress environment.

Working Conditions:

  • The position requires long hours and shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The role involves exposure to patients with infectious diseases.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding procedures.
  • Stamina to work long hours under stressful conditions.

Salary

N1,000,000 / month.
