Job Overview

  • We are recruiting a Laboratory Diagnostics Manager who will be central to ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of our diagnostic laboratory services.
  • This strategic leadership role requires a professionally trained laboratory scientist or pathologist with a proven track record in laboratory management, quality assurance, and operational excellence.
  • The ideal candidate understands that diagnostics is the bedrock of clinical decision-making—and that precision, timeliness, and process integrity are non-negotiable.
  • They will combine scientific expertise with strong leadership and administrative skills to deliver results that impact patient care outcomes directly.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations & Quality Control:

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations across all diagnostic units, ensuring compliance with ISO 15189, WHO, and national laboratory standards.
  • Implement and monitor internal and external quality control programs to maintain test accuracy and reliability.
  • Coordinate proficiency testing, calibration schedules, and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements from relevant health authorities and professional bodies.
  • Develop, update, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all laboratory processes.
  • Lead laboratory audits and prepare the facility for accreditation inspections.

Staff Management & Training:

  • Supervise, mentor, and appraise laboratory staff to maintain high performance standards.
  • Organize continuous professional development sessions on diagnostics technologies, biosafety, and quality management systems.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.

Innovation & Process Improvement:

  • Introduce modern diagnostic techniques and digital tools to improve turnaround time and accuracy.
  • Use data analytics to track test volumes, error rates, and operational efficiency, implementing corrective actions where needed.
  • Drive cost-efficient resource utilization without compromising quality.

Experience & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, or related field (Master’s or specialist qualification is an advantage).
  • Valid license with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
  • Minimum of 6years’ experience in diagnostic laboratory management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in laboratory quality management systems and accreditation processes.

  • Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data reporting tools.
