Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Jos, Plateau

Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting tests and analyses on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure adherence to company and regulatory quality standards.
This role supports the maintenance of a hygienic production environment and ensures that quality assurance protocols are consistently followed.
Responsibilities
Analytical & Testing Duties:
- Conduct microbiological, physicochemical, and chemical analyses on raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products.
- Analyze boiler water samples to ensure proper treatment and efficiency.
- Perform routine water analysis (raw and treated).
- Prepare chemical reagents, culture media, and colorants used during testing processes.
- Analyze liquid detergent samples.
Quality Control & Environmental Monitoring:
- Monitor and document storage temperatures in cold rooms and raw milk bulk tanks.
- Inspect cold rooms and bulk milk tanks for cleanliness and safety.
- Perform weight control on in-process products.
- Check coding/date markings and implement corrections where necessary.
- Inspect returned products, conduct sampling, and document findings.
- Conduct concentration checks on foot and boot dip sanitizers.
Operational & Laboratory Support:
- Maintain a safe and sanitary laboratory environment.
- Calibrate laboratory equipment in line with SOPs and manufacturer guidelines.
- Clean and sterilize laboratory glassware and machine components.
- Sample product lines per batch for microbiological and chemical testing.
- Post laboratory test results on SAP and maintain accurate records.
Other Duties:
- Monitor the loading of products to ensure only safe, high-quality goods are distributed.
- Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum of a National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology or Food Science and Technology.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in mathematical applications (e.g., algebra, percent error, standard deviation).
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant software
