Lagos Inspects Public Health Facilities, Promises Upgrades

The Lagos State Health Service Commission has promised to upgrade the facilities of some general hospitals in the state. The Permanent Secretary of the commission, Dr Benjamin Eniayewun, spoke while visiting the Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Gbagada and Alimosho general hospitals.

Eniayewun was said to have led an 11-man team on the inspection from 14 to 25 September. According to a statement on Tuesday, the inspection is part of initiatives to position public health institutions for excellent service delivery.

While addressing health management committees of the visited hospitals, the permanent secretary reiterated the state government’s resolve to meet international standards.

“As health care providers, we must move with the tide of time, to remain relevant in quality health care delivery. This includes transforming and positioning our facilities for patient-centered care that is directed at improved positive perception, using impeccable services,” he stated.

Eniayewun assured the workers of support “towards optimal transformative productivity, using qualitative innovative programmes.”

The Deputy Director, Medical Services, LSHSC, Dr Funmilola Eso, who presented patients’ satisfaction survey for the third quarter of 2020 being conducted across hospitals via electronic automation, said the government would work on the results for improved performance.
