MDCN Announces Federal Housemanship Vacancies for July 2025

Posted on: Tue 22-07-2025

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has officially announced the upcoming release of housemanship vacancies in federal institutions, scheduled to go live on its portal on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. This update is part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to streamline the placement process for newly inducted medical and dental practitioners across Nigeria.

Centralized Placement System in Action

According to the announcement, the MDCN will update its Housemanship Portal with available slots in 46 approved federal hospitals. Each institution has a designated number of training positions based on specific parameters, and only hospitals with current vacancies will appear on the portal.

Practitioners are strictly advised against contacting federal hospitals or MDCN directly—either personally or through proxies—as this violates the Centralized Housemanship Placement System. Such actions may result in restricted access to the portal.

Registration Guidelines

Newly inducted doctors must create a profile on the MDCN Housemanship Portal immediately after receiving their provisional registration certificate during the induction ceremony. This profile is essential for accessing and applying to federal housemanship positions.

Non-Federal Options Still Available

In addition to federal placements, MDCN highlighted that 70 non-federal hospitals also offer housemanship opportunities. Applicants interested in these institutions are encouraged to approach them directly for information on available slots.

Additional Resources and Reminders

The MDCN has provided several key resources to help applicants navigate the process:

The Council reminds all applicants that this opportunity is exclusive to Medical and Dental practitioners. Staying informed and checking the MDCN website for updates is strongly advised.
