MWAN Applauds Edo Health Workers In Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic

Edo State chapter of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), yesterday commended health workers in their effort to boost the state’s capacity to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. Its President, Dr. Adesuwa Urhoghide-Edigin, applauded the medical professionals for their sacrifice, resilience and commitment in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, describing them as “superheroes.”

“We are the superheroes and medical women all over Edo State are in this fight to eradicate the scourge, because they have been very courageous in carrying out their duties. “We also commend the effort of all health workers in Edo State. We have been amazed and we are proud of every one of us. We commend our members serving in various state committees and in other capacities,” she stated.

According to her, the MWAN in Edo State would continue to assist and support the government in fighting the spread of COVID-19 through sensitisation, among others. She called on government to continue providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for all health workers and ensure the safety of its members, who are in the frontlines in the treatment of the virus.

“This challenge facing us would strengthen the healthcare sector and strengthen us a people in Edo State. The times may be tough for health workers and especially for us medical women who have to function in so many capacities, but we are resilient and we shall all overcome, “ she added.
