Job Description

Emel Hospitals Ltd is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests to assist in diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases.  

The MLS will ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timely delivery of laboratory results while adhering to quality standards and safety protocols.

 

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, urine, tissue, and other samples.
• Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and precision.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Prepare specimens and ensure proper handling and storage.
• Maintain detailed records of tests and results in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Ensure strict adherence to infection control and biosafety measures.
• Collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
• Stay updated on advancements in laboratory science and recommend improvements where necessary.
• Participate in internal and external quality control programs.
• Supervise and mentor junior laboratory staff as required.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS).
• Must be licensed by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
• Minimum of 5-10 years of work experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, testing procedures, and quality control measures.
• Proficiency in using laboratory software and electronic medical records (EMR) is an advantage.
