Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Officer to lead the design, implementation, and management of WIMROF's mental health programs.
The successful candidate will work closely with the programs and health teams to provide mental health support, raise awareness, and promote emotional well-being within the communities we serve.
This role requires a strong understanding of mental health issues, community-based interventions, and the ability to provide culturally sensitive support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement mental health programs tailored to the needs of underserved communities.
- Conduct mental health assessments and provide individual and group counseling sessions.
- Train staff and community volunteers on mental health awareness and first aid.
- Create and distribute educational materials to promote mental health awareness.
- Collaborate with health and programs teams to integrate mental health into broader health initiatives.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing psychological distress.
- Monitor and evaluate program impact through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Liaise with community leaders to ensure culturally appropriate delivery of mental health services.
- Refer individuals to specialized mental health services when needed
- Advocate for mental health policies and increased access to mental health services.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Mental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health program delivery or counseling.
- Strong knowledge of mental health issues and evidence-based intervention strategies.
- Experience providing culturally sensitive mental health support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with underserved communities is an advantage.
