ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for admission into any of the Postgraduate Pro-grammes, a candidate shall satisfy the general University requirements as well as any special requirements for admission into the Programme of interest as contained in the admission guideline.
Postgraduate Diploma Programme
Admission is open to candidates having HND or First Degree in relevant discipline from any recognized Tertiary Institution.
Masters Degree Programme
Candidates seeking admission to the Masters Degree Programme must, be graduates of Mountain Top University or any other University recognised by the Senate and shall normally have obtained a minimum of i Second Class Lower Division degree in a relevant field.
Ph.D. Degree Programme
Candidates seeking admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree Programme must (in their relevant discipline) have obtained the Bachelor and Masters Degrees of Mountain Top University or its equivalent alent from any other University recognised by Senate. To qualify for direct admission into the Ph.D., a candidate must have a minimum CGPA of 4.00 on a 5.00 point scale or equivalent (60%) in the Masters Degree result. Candidates who graduated with CGPA of 3.50-3.99 on a equivalent (55-59%) in the Masters degree may be considered for M Phil. /Ph.D. programme while candidates who graduated with CGPA of 3.00-3.49 on a 5.00 point scale in Masters degree job e consider d for M.Phil. programme. Mountain Top University award M.P 11. Degree to M.Phil. /Ph.D. candidate who fails to meet up with a minimum CGPA of 4.00 upon the completion of Course-work examination. Such candidate shall proceed to write a long essay/dissertation and upon successful defense of the dissertation would be award an M.Phil. Degree in the respective discipline. The M.Phil. /Ph. B programme is intended to prepare candidates ford the Ph.D. degree Candidates with Professional Master's degrees are not eligible for Ph.D. programme except they obtained M.Sc degrees in the relevant fields.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Interested candidates shall complete the application form on the University portal @www.mtu.edu.ng/postgraduate/admission/ and provide all relevant documents as specified on the application form, including certificates of degrees and / or diplomas, academic transcripts, reference letters, statement of purpose, concept note on the proposed area of research.
Candidates who are Nigerian citizens shall, in addition, provide the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate. Each candidate shall request and ensure that the institution(s) attended process and forward official academic transcript(s) directly to the Registrar via email [email protected]. Only candidates whose transcripts have been been received shall be considered for admission.
