Job Title: Neurologist

Location: Lagos

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive neurological evaluations, including patient history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose and treat various neurological disorders such as epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other related conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on accurate diagnoses, incorporating medical, surgical, and rehabilitative interventions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including neurosurgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Stay informed about advancements in neurology through continuous education, research, and participation in relevant conferences and seminars.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding neurological conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient progress notes, test results, and treatment plans.
  • Participate in on-call schedules and respond promptly to urgent neurological cases.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards, ensuring compliance with relevant medical regulations and guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of five years relevant work experience  
  • Medical Degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of a neurology residency program.
  • Board certification in neurology.
  • Valid medical license to practice as a neurologist.
  • Proficient in evaluating and diagnosing a wide range of neurological disorders, including but not limited to epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and neuromuscular disorders.
  • Ability to conduct and interpret neurological tests, such as electroencephalograms (EEGs), electromyography (EMG), and nerve conduction studies.
  • Interpretation of neuroimaging studies, including MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and CT (computed tomography) scans.
  • Effective communication skills to explain complex medical conditions to patients and their families.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach in dealing with patients facing neurological challenges.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in neurology through conferences, research, and publications.
  • Ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, and rehabilitation specialists.
  • Willingness to teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to develop effective treatment plans.
  • Adherence to ethical and professional standards in patient care and research.
