Job Title: Radiography Technician

Position Overview
The Radiographer Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures including X-rays and other radiographic examinations to support accurate medical diagnosis and treatment.
The role ensures high-quality imaging, patient safety, radiation protection, and proper equipment handling while adhering to regulatory and professional standards.
The Radiographer Technician works closely with clinicians and laboratory personnel to deliver timely, accurate, and reliable imaging results.
Key Responsibilties
Diagnostic Imaging & Service Delivery:
- Perform radiographic procedures (X-rays and related imaging) as requested by physicians
- Ensure proper patient positioning and imaging techniques for accurate results
- Follow established imaging protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure timely completion of imaging procedures to support clinical decisions
Patient Care & Safety:
- Prepare and educate patients on imaging procedures
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
- Screen patients for contraindications (e.g., pregnancy, medical history)
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure safety.
Radiation Protection & Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to radiation safety standards and ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) principles
- Use protective equipment (lead aprons, shields) appropriately
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and safety guidelines
- Monitor and record radiation exposure levels.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- Operate radiography equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting
- Report faults and coordinate maintenance or repairs promptly
- Ensure proper calibration and optimal functioning of equipment.
Image Quality & Reporting Support:
- Ensure high-quality diagnostic images with minimal errors
- Review images for clarity and accuracy before submission
- Support radiologists/physicians with required imaging data
- Ensure proper labelling and identification of all images.
Records Management & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate patient imaging records and logs
- Ensure proper storage and retrieval of imaging results
- Document procedures, exposures, and patient details accurately
- Maintain confidentiality of patient data.
Reporting, Risk Management & Accountability:
- Prepare daily reports on imaging activities and workload
- Identify and report equipment issues or operational risks
- Ensure incident reporting and proper documentation
- Take accountability for imaging accuracy and patient safety.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging
- Valid practicing license from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN)
- 2 - 3 years relevant experience
- Experience in a diagnostic laboratory or hospital setting is an advantage
- Knowledge of digital imaging systems is preferred.
