Job Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometrist to join our team and provide exceptional eye care services to our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity, refractive errors, binocular vision, and ocular health.
  • Diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases, including but not limited to, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, low vision aids and other optical aids based on the patient's visual needs and lifestyle preferences.
  • Perform specialized testing such as visual field analysis, OCT imaging, and corneal topography to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Provide pre-and post-operative care for patients undergoing refractive surgeries, such as LASIK and PRK.
  • Correction of errors of binocularity by means of vision training (orthoptics)
  • Diagnosis and management of minor ocular infections which do not pose a threat to the integrity of the ocular or visual system.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care and optimal treatment outcomes.
  • Educate patients about proper eye care practices, including the importance of regular eye examinations, proper eyewear usage, and lifestyle modifications to maintain ocular health.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with regulatory standards and practice protocols.
  • Stay updated on advancements in optometric technology, treatment modalities, and industry trends through continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Participate in practice marketing initiatives and community outreach programs to promote eye health awareness and attract new patients.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years relevant work experience.
  • Valid license to practice optometry and a member of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN).
  • Clinical experience in conducting comprehensive eye examinations and managing ocular diseases.
  • Proficiency in utilizing diagnostic equipment and tools, including phoropters, slit lamps, tonometers, and fundus cameras.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical concepts in an easily understandable manner.
  • Detail-oriented approach to patient care with a commitment to delivering high-quality services.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Dedication to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards of practice.
