The Katsina State Hospitals Services Management Board was first established by Kaduna State Government via edict No. 7 of 1978. The same edict was modified and adapted under CAP 63 of the laws of Katsina State of Nigeria. In 1993, the Board was merged with the State Ministry of Health through an Executive order. However, it was reactivated on 30th March, 1998 operate autonomously, with a Governing Board under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. The Board has under control all staff at the Headquarters, State Medical store, Government House Clinic, Psychiatric Hospital as well as all those working at the 18 General Hospital in the Katsina, Daura, Funtua, Malumdfashi, Mani, Kankia, Dutsinma, Batsari, Baure, Babbaruga, Rimi, Ingawa, Musawa, Kankara and Danmusa.

Job Description
- The Pharmacist is responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and proper management of medications within KTHSMB healthcare facilities.
- The role involves ensuring the safe and effective use of drugs, providing pharmaceutical care, reviewing prescriptions, and advising healthcare professionals and patients on medication use.
- The officer will also manage drug inventory, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to rational drug use and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and dispense prescriptions accurately and safely
- Provide counseling to patients on medication use and adherence
- Ensure proper storage and management of pharmaceutical supplies
- Monitor drug interactions, side effects, and contraindications
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and drug inventory
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and standards
- Advise healthcare professionals on drug therapy and usage
- Supervise pharmacy support staff and technicians
- Conduct inventory control and prevent stockouts or expiries
- Participate in hospital pharmacy and drug management committees
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm or Pharm.D)
- NYSC Discharged/Exemption Certificate
- Valid practicing license
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology and drug safety
- Good communication and counseling skills
- Relevant experience.
