Job Title: Pharmacist

Job Summary
The pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and rational use of medicines within the hospital. This includes dispensing prescribed medications, providing expert advice to patients and healthcare professionals, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
The role requires strong attention to detail, patient care skills, and the ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret physicians’ prescriptions to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and safety of medications.
- Dispense medications and counsel patients on proper use, dosage, side effects, and storage.
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication therapy for patients.
- Monitor patients’ responses to medications and report adverse drug reactions.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, controlled drugs, and pharmacy activities in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure proper storage, security, and inventory control of pharmaceutical supplies.
- Participate in ward rounds and clinical meetings to provide pharmaceutical expertise.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in pharmacy practice, new drugs, and treatment guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and statutory requirements.
- Train and mentor pharmacy technicians, interns, and support staff.
- Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from an accredited institution.
- Current practicing license from the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-NYSC experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Excellent communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety.
Work Conditions:
- Full-time position with shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
- Based in a multi-specialist hospital environment with direct patient interaction.
Salary
N300,000. - N400,000 / month.
