JOB DESCRIPTION

  • To prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • To dispense medications by compounding, packaging, and labelling pharmaceuticals.
  • Controls medications by monitoring drug prescription and therapies; advising interventions.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing work flow at all times; verifying their preparation and labelling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
  • To provide pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counselling patients on drug therapies.
  • Ordering and purchasing pharmaceutical supplies and ensuring on time deliveries.
  • Maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
  • Analysing prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions
  • Develops clinic’s staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by monitoring nursing unit inspections; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing out-dated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
  • Protects patients and pharmacy staff by adhering to infection- control protocols.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
  • Ensure a professional management of pharmacy vendors / suppliers.
  • Prepares monthly drug/stock analyses for management decision making
  • Any other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • B.Pharm Degree from a reputable University
  • A valid and current pharmacist license
  • 2 - 3 years’ work experience in community pharmacy practice
  • In-depth understanding of medications, their uses, and potential side effects.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trend information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Knowledge of the use of clinic Electronic Medical Records system
