We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Location: Apo Resettlement, Abuja FCT)

Employment Type: Full-time

 

Description

Prescription & Dispensing Support:

• Assist the pharmacist in processing and dispensing prescribed medications under supervision.
• Prepare prescriptions accurately, label medications correctly, and ensure all necessary information is included.
• Check expiry dates and packaging integrity before issuing any medication.
• Refer all unclear, incomplete, or unusual prescriptions to the pharmacist before dispensing.

Customer Interaction & Counselling Support:

• Welcome and attend to customers courteously, providing basic product information and guidance under pharmacist's direction.
• Refer all clinical or in-depth drug-related questions to the pharmacist or nurse.
• Assist in customer education on the use of non-prescription items such as vitamins, supplements, and personal care products.
• Help manage queues during busy periods and direct customers appropriately.

Inventory & Shelf Management:

• Restock shelves and drawers with medications, ensuring correct positioning and product visibility.
• Monitor stock levels and notify the pharmacist or inventory team when items are running low or need to be reordered.
• Remove expired, near-expiry, or damaged products and report immediately.
• Arrange and clean medicine storage areas, ensuring hygiene and proper stock rotation (FIFO or FEFO as directed).

Equipment & Environment Maintenance:

• Ensure the pharmacy dispensing area, shelves, and workspaces are kept clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Disinfect workstations regularly and maintain orderliness in the prescription and customer service areas.
• Assist in preparing the treatment room and supplies for nurses handling injections or procedures.

Documentation & Recordkeeping:

• Maintain accurate logs of dispensed medications, restocked items, returned or expired drugs (as assigned).
• Assist the pharmacist in filing and organizing prescriptions and other important documents.
• Help in updating patient prescription history, if required by the pharmacist.

Regulatory & Compliance Support:

• Ensure all actions are compliant with PCN regulations and pharmacy protocols.
• Always maintain confidentiality of patient records and prescription data.
• Report any suspicious prescriptions, inventory irregularities, or unsafe practices to the pharmacist immediately.

Teamwork & Support:

• Support pharmacists and nurses in daily tasks and patient services.
• Participate in stock counts, product audits, and routine inspections.
• Assist in training new or junior staff as delegated by the pharmacist.
• Take on other assigned responsibilities in the pharmacy, cosmetic, or retail unit when instructed.
