Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Location: Lagos  

Employment Type: Full-time

Reports to: Pharmacist

 

Job Summary

  • The pharmacy technician will support the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and management of medications for patients.
  • The role involves handling prescriptions, managing inventory, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • This position is crucial to the smooth operation of the pharmacy and requires attention to detail, good organizational skills, and a commitment to excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, process, and prepare prescriptions for verification by the pharmacist.
  • Dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Label and package medicines accurately for patient use.
  • Assist patients with routine enquiries and refer clinical questions to the pharmacist.
  • Maintain inventory of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring proper storage and handling.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist in placing orders to avoid shortages.
  • Keep pharmacy work areas clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Assist in recording and tracking controlled substances in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Support pharmacists during ward rounds and clinical activities when necessary.
  • Participate in continuous training to stay updated on pharmacy practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate in Pharmacy Technician Studies from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration and license with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) as a pharmacy technician.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years’ experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Good knowledge of basic pharmacology and drug handling procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and ethical standards.

Work Conditions:

  • Full-time position with shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
  • Based in a multi-specialist hospital environment with direct patient contact.

Salary

N180,000 - N220,000 monthly.
