Job Description

Job Overview
- The Post-NYSC Medical Officer will be responsible for providing general medical care to patients in various departments, supporting senior doctors, and contributing to LECC’s mission of delivering top-notch healthcare.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care:
- Provide medical care to patients across various departments under the supervision of senior physicians.
- Conduct initial patient assessments, take medical histories, and perform physical examinations.
- Provide diagnoses and recommend treatment plans for general medical conditions.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care in collaboration with specialists and nursing staff.
Clinical Support:
- Assist in performing medical procedures and treatments as required.
- Administer medications and injections, following protocols and guidelines.
- Participate in patient rounds and assist in the preparation and review of medical reports.
- Respond to medical emergencies within the center as needed.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including specialists, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team in patient education and the promotion of preventative healthcare practices.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the hospital’s health information system.
- Ensure proper documentation of treatments, patient progress, and any adverse reactions.
- Contribute to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of medical equipment and patient care areas.
Professional Development:
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and workshops as required to stay current with best practices in healthcare.
Qualifications
- Must have completed NYSC and possess a valid NYSC certificate.
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Previous clinical experience is an advantage, although not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and medical record-keeping systems.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-oriented with a focus on high-quality care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and show initiative when necessary.
