ASI UKPO DIAGNOSTICS & MEDICALS LIMITED, operator of ASI Ukpo Hospitals, is about to commence operation of the ASI Ukpo Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Calabar. This facility is poised to be the premier comprehensive cancer treatment centre in the South-South and South-East of Nigeria. We seek suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacancies:
JOB TITLE: RADIOTHERAPIST (THERAPEUTIC RADIOGRAPHER)
TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- A minimum of B.Sc. Radiography, with Postgraduate certification in Radiotherapy and in Radiation Safety. Additional professional qualifications would be an advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years cognate post-qualification experience in the position of Radiotherapy Radiographer, including proven experience and proficiency in use of external-beam therapy and brachytherapy for patient treatment, in a hospital with functional Radiotherapy equipment/facilities.
- Valid and current practicing license issued by the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, IT, communication and problem solving skills.
- A caring and compassionate nature, sensitivity, empathy and an excellent bedside manner; emotional resilience to help patients through difficult times.
- Detail-oriented, manually dexterous and with a great deal of physical stamina.
- Technical skills to operate medical equipment and tools related to Radiotherapy.
Ability to:
- Manage the treatment pathway, providing the technical expertise and support while delivering accurate radiotherapy treatment.
- Scan, Plan and deliver customised radiotherapy treatment for each patient, ensuring the right amount of radiation is accurately targeted at the site of the disease, in consultation with the Medical Physicists and Oncologist, and guided by the ALARA principle.
- Explain the treatment plan and support the patient throughout the course of Radiotherapy.
- Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to focus upon improving cancer treatment, providing a high level of expertise and the best possible patient experience.
- Maintain treatment records, write reports and keep up to date on the latest treatment methods and innovations in radiotherapy equipment and treatment methods.
- Work long hours in planned shifts on a weekly basis.
