We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Radiographer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Employment Type: Full-time / Evening Shift

Department: Radiology / Medical Imaging

Reports To: Head of Radiology / Medical Director

 

Job Summary

The Radiographer is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations using X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and other imaging equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.

The role requires strict adherence to radiation safety standards, professional ethics, and patient care protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-ray, CT scan, MRI, fluoroscopy, and mammography (as applicable).
  • Prepare and position patients correctly for imaging procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely and accurately.
  • Ensure radiation protection and safety for patients, staff, and self.
  • Review images for quality and accuracy before submission to physicians.
  • Maintain and update patient imaging records and reports.
  • Observe and report any abnormalities or equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of imaging equipment.
  • Comply with hospital policies, regulatory guidelines, and professional standards.
  • Assist in emergency imaging procedures when required.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging.
  • Valid practicing license with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) (or relevant regulatory body).
  • Minimum of [1–3] years post-qualification experience (preferred).
  • Sound knowledge of radiation safety and imaging protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or on-call duties if required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in operating imaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of patient care and safety procedures.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with PACS/RIS systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to radiation (with appropriate safety measures in place).
  • Standing for long periods and assisting patients with mobility challenges.
  • Fast-paced healthcare environment.
