Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the institute into the institute of Health Sciences and Technology, University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City for the 2026/2027 Academic Session into the following programmes

Courses/Programmes

A JAMB/CANDIDATES (National Diploma (ND) & Higher National Diploma (DIRECT ENTRY)

1. Health Information Management Course Duration - ND 2 years, HND 2 years

2. Environmental Health Technology Course Duration - ND 2 years, HND 2 years

3. Biomedical Engineering Technology Course Duration - ND 2 years, HND 2 years

4. Paramedics Technology Course Duration - ND 2 years

5. Orthopaedic Cast Technology Course Duration - ND 2 years

6. Dispensing Opticianry Course Duration - ND 2 years

 

B. DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (JAMB NOT REQUIRED)

1. Anaesthetic Training Programme Course Duration - 3 years

2. Dental Surgery Technician Course Duration - 3 years

3. Audiology Technician Programme Course Duration - 3 years

 

C. CENTRE FOR TRAINING COMMUNITY OFFICERS (CTCHO)

1. Community Health Officer Course Duration - (1 Year) B.Sc Holder (Special); (2 Years) Regular

 

D. CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME

1. Mortuary Science, Management and Funeral Services

 

ENTRY QUALIFICATION

1. Applicants should possess a minimum of five credit passes in not more than two (2) sittings in WASSCE, NECO or GCE O/L, which should include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

2. Health Sciences in lieu of Biology is acceptable for Paramedics Technology and Environmental Health Technology.

3. National Diploma (ND) Candidates must have written the 2026 UTME (JAMB) Exams with an expected minimum score of 150.

4. For candidates seeking admission into the Biomedical Engineering Technology Programme, a pass in any of the following subjects will be an added advantage: woodwork, auto mechanics, basic electricity, technical drawing and fine art.

5. For Higher National Diploma (HND), candidates are to meet the following requirements;

  • A minimum of five credit passes in not more than two (2) sittings in WASSCE, NECO or GCE O/L, which should include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
  • National Diploma with a minimum of lower credit pass in the discipline obtained from an NBTE-accredited programme, plus a minimum of one-year post ND cognate work experience in the field of specialisation.
  • Must have obtained a current Professional License.

6. Centre For Training Community Health Officers (CTCHO)

  • Applicants must be holders of a Diploma in Community Health or a Community Health Extension Workers Certificate. All applicants must have five (5) credit level passes in SSCE, WASCE, NECO or GCE at not more than two (2) sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • All applicants must be registered with Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria and posses a valid Practice license.
  • Holders of first degree in Health Education, Community Health and Public Health can also key into the programme for one year.

 

METHOD OF APPLICATION

  1. Post UTME screening Form for JAMB candidates is obtainable for a fee of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000.00) only.
  2. Admission forms are obtainable online, at a fee of N10,000 for the Diploma, Certificate and Direct Entry (HND) Programmes.
  3. Administrative charges maybe applied for I and ii above.
  4. All payments above should be made through the remitta platform of UBTH as follows:

 

Note:

  • All exams are strictly Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • POST-UTME and Entrance exams for ND, Diploma and Certificate are scheduled for Saturday, 19th September 2026, at 9:00 am prompt.
  • Screening Date(Community Health Officers Programme) is scheduled for Thursday, August 13th 2026, by 9:00 am prompt.
  • Screening Date for other Direct Entry Candidates into the HIM EHT and BME shall hold on Thursday, 24th September 2026, by 9:00 am prompt
