Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Health Institutions, Dr. Paschal Obi, has urged the Federal Government to allocate more funds to health institutions
Making the appeal during an oversight tour of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, the lawmaker stressed that most hospitals needed bailouts to serve Nigerians better.
Obi said the essence of the visit was to ascertain utilisation of funds and the situation on ground.
He commended the government for the establishment of a cancer centre in the medical facility under a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement between the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) and LUTH.
Obi promised that his committee will continue to collaborate with the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Chris Bode, for better funding.
