Job Title: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Location: Abia State (Umuire, Near Umuahia)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Department: Medical Diagnostics

Description:

• The sonographer on boards as part of our clinical team to support the provision of excellent diagnostics and clinical care to our patients towards optimum health status.  
• The candidate is innovative, respects patients’ rights, and is in tune with the application of modern health technologies to solving health challenges

Responsibilities:

• Conducting sonographic procedures on patients
• Ensure clear images for diagnostic purposes and make adjustments to the sonographic equipment when necessary
• Support clinicians  to conduct sonographic invasive procedures where necessary
• Recognize the sonographic appearance of normal and abnormal tissue structures and provide the best image quality for documentation
• Document all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the sonographic equipment
• Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
• Respect patients’ rights and maintain confidentiality
• Make use of electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other care-enhancing automation tools  for patient care
• Maintain teamwork and work in cooperation with other members of the clinical and administrative team, thereby contributing to proper care coordination
• Support the planning and execution of preventive and community wellness programmes and outreaches of the hospital
• Any other duties as may reasonably be required

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in radiography or other related basic medical science
• Post graduate certification in ultrasonography is an added advantage
• Considerable experience in medical imaging
• Ability to work with little or no supervision
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated team player willing to go the extra mile
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Adequate problem-solving skills
• Ability to pay attention to details
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Ability to demonstrate empathy and good patient management skills
• Computer literacy and basic knowledge of EMR
